Sankofa · Return to the Source – KUMA Triptych

“It is not forbidden to go back and get what you have forgotten.” This Akan proverb from Ghana is embodied by the Sankofa, the bird that moves forward while looking back: honoring one’s roots to better build the future.

• On the left: a carved wooden door adorned with Adinkra symbols, with the proverb engraved in a golden medallion.
• In the center: an oil painting of an ancestor dressed in kente cloth turning back to pick up a precious object, alongside the Sankofa bird.
• On the right: waves of wood, gold leaf, and strips of kente cloth, from which the carved Sankofa bird emerges.

Its ochre, gold, and chocolate tones, enhanced by the green and red of the kente, add character to a living room, office, or library.

• Set of 3 canvases to be hung side by side, spaced 3 to 5 cm apart
• 1.25" (3.18 cm) thick canvas, museum quality
• Fade-resistant printing, long-lasting colors
• Canvases stretched over a wooden frame, ready to hang (hook already attached to the back)
